Arrival in Errachidia – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Upon arrival at Errachidia, whether by flight or by land, you will be welcomed by your driver/guide who will accompany you throughout this exciting adventure. After a warm greeting, we begin our scenic drive through one of the most breathtaking regions of Morocco: the Ziz Valley. Famous for its vast palm groves, the valley stretches across miles of desert landscapes, offering lush greenery set against the arid surroundings. As you pass through this stunning area, we’ll stop at several scenic viewpoints to capture photos and enjoy the magnificent views of the valley and its dramatic rock formations.

As we continue towards Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert, you’ll begin to see the sand dunes in the distance, beckoning you to explore their vast expanse. After checking in at your hotel in Merzouga, you’ll have the evening free to relax and unwind. If you’re up for an adventure, you can take a short stroll to explore the nearby dunes and feel the vastness of the desert. Alternatively, you can just relax and enjoy a traditional Moroccan meal at the hotel.

Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Dunes – Camel Trek – Desert Camp

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, your desert adventure truly begins. You’ll start by exploring the local desert villages around Merzouga. One of the first stops will be Khamlia, a charming village known for its traditional Gnawa music and welcoming locals. Here, you will have the opportunity to listen to live music performed by the Gnawa people, who have a rich history of blending African rhythms with Berber traditions. You will also visit nomadic Berber camps, where you’ll learn about their traditional lifestyles and how they survive in the harsh desert environment.

After exploring the villages, we return to Merzouga for a traditional Moroccan lunch in a local setting, where you’ll enjoy freshly prepared dishes, including tagine and couscous. Afterward, we head back to the dunes for the next leg of our journey: a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes.

The camel trek is the highlight of your desert experience. As you ride through the golden sand dunes, you’ll witness some of the most breathtaking views of the desert landscape. The shifting sands, dramatic dunes, and the serenity of the Sahara create a truly magical atmosphere. The trek culminates in a stunning desert sunset, where the sky turns a kaleidoscope of colors as the sun dips below the horizon.

After reaching the luxury desert camp, you’ll be welcomed with refreshing Moroccan tea and have the opportunity to relax. Merzouga – Rissani – Errachidia

Your final day begins early with an optional sunrise camel trek to witness the first light of the day illuminating the dunes in a soft golden glow. Watching the sun rise over the vast desert is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it’s a perfect way to end your time in the Sahara.

After returning to the camp for a delicious breakfast, we begin our journey back to Merzouga. From here, we will drive to the nearby town of Rissani, the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty, which still rules Morocco today. Rissani is a lively town known for its traditional souk (market), where locals sell spices, textiles, and handmade crafts. You’ll have the chance to explore the market and immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of this ancient town. Take time to observe the bustling street life and interact with the friendly locals.

Afterward, we continue our drive back towards Errachidia. On the way, you’ll pass through scenic desert landscapes, vast palm groves, and small Berber villages, offering more opportunities for photos and exploration.

Upon arrival in Errachidia, the tour concludes with a drop-off at your preferred location, whether it’s the airport or your accommodation. You will leave with memories of your Sahara adventure, a deeper appreciation for the Moroccan desert, and an understanding of the nomadic way of life.
