Itinerary

  • Day 1:

Drive from Tangier to Chefchaouen – Explore the Blue Pearl of Morocco

Your Moroccan adventure begins in Tangier, the historic gateway between Europe and Africa. After meeting your private driver/guide, depart Tangier and enjoy a scenic drive through the Rif Mountains, taking in a stunning mix of sea views and rugged mountain landscapes. Along the way, stop in Tetouan, a city with strong Andalusian and Spanish influence, and explore its charming white medina—recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Chefchaouen, affectionately known as “The Blue Pearl of Morocco.” Nestled in the mountains, Chefchaouen enchants visitors with its maze of narrow lanes, blue-washed buildings, and laid-back atmosphere. Spend the rest of the day wandering the colorful medina, browsing artisan shops, and relaxing in the picturesque Uta el-Hammam Square, surrounded by cafés and the historic kasbah.

    • 🛏️ Overnight in Chefchaouen
    • 🍽️ Dinner included

  • Day 2:

    Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

After breakfast in Chefchaouen, continue your journey south toward Morocco’s imperial heartland. The first stop is Volubilis, one of the best-preserved Roman archaeological sites in North Africa and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk among ancient mosaics, crumbling arches, and grand columns while learning about Roman civilization in Morocco.

From here, drive to the nearby imperial city of Meknes, founded in the 11th century and once the capital under Sultan Moulay Ismail. Visit Bab Mansour, one of the most beautiful gates in Morocco, explore the Royal Stables, Sahrij Swani Basin, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Meknes offers a fascinating blend of Moorish and Islamic architecture, tranquil gardens, and less-touristy charm.

In the late afternoon, arrive in Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city and a thriving center of culture, religion, and craftsmanship.

    • 🛏️ Overnight in a traditional riad in Fes
    • 🍽️ Dinner included

  • Day 3:

Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert

Start your day with a scenic drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Your first stop is Ifrane, often nicknamed “the Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine-style houses and clean streets. Then continue to Azrou to walk through the Cedar Forest, home to wild Barbary macaques—a perfect stop to stretch your legs and connect with nature.

Drive further south through Midelt, a town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas, where you’ll pause for lunch. Then journey along the dramatic Ziz Valley, lined with palm groves and ancient kasbahs, offering a glimpse into the rural oasis lifestyle.

By late afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Switch from 4 wheels to 4 legs as you mount a camel and trek into the Sahara Desert. As the sun sets over the golden dunes, take photos and soak in the surreal beauty of the Sahara before arriving at your luxury desert camp.

Here, you’ll be welcomed with mint tea and a traditional Moroccan dinner. Afterward, gather around the campfire to enjoy Berber music and drumming under a sky full of stars. This is a night you’ll never forget.

  • Day 4:

Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the Sahara, then enjoy breakfast at the camp. Begin your journey toward the mountains, stopping first in Rissani, a historic market town known for its traditional souks, dates, and ancient caravan routes.

Continue through Erfoud, where you can visit a fossil workshop if you’re curious about the region’s prehistoric treasures. Then head toward the dramatic Todra Gorge, a towering canyon carved by the Todra River. With 300-meter-high limestone walls, this is a favorite spot for climbers and photographers alike. Take a short walk along the gorge floor to admire the natural beauty.

In the late afternoon, drive through Boumalne Dades, passing ancient kasbahs and striking rock formations known as the “Monkey Fingers.” End the day in the heart of the Dades Valley, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and peaceful Berber villages.

Reach Ouarzazate, nicknamed the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you can visit Atlas Film Studios and the Taourirt Kasbah. Then journey to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar and backdrop to films like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. Walk through the ancient alleys of this fortified village, learning about the traditional mudbrick architecture and its cinematic history.

In the afternoon, drive over the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m) in the High Atlas Mountains, with plenty of scenic stops for photos. By early evening, arrive in Marrakech, Morocco’s red-walled imperial city, where your driver will drop you off at your riad or hotel.
